Pumpkin Spice latte

pumpkin spice latte

Well it’s been as hot as the fires of Mordor here lately. Positively sizzlin’. So what does that mean?  Uh…pumpkin spice latte!  Wait, really?  Timing, Amanda, timing. Hey, it was cool when I decided to make this. 😀  Plus it was the 4th yesterday, and if I am not mistaken, the 4th was the official coming out party for the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks.  So maybe the timing isn’t bad after all!

How do you stand on the ol’ pumpkin spice. I personally think it’s great, especially when it has pumpkin, like the Starbucks ones do this year. But even though I don’t have a problem with Starbucks at all, I’ve always been fond of local mom and pop coffee places, ones with poetry readings, weird art on the wall, and ones where they make their own syrups. Mmm. Noms!

Plus I don’t really have a choice. The nearest Starbucks is about an hour and a half away from here. (Someone that lives in a real urban area just read that and their jaw dropped). We also don’t have a Taco Bell, which I always thought a pretty basic restaurant for even the smallest town to have. Go figure.

Back to delicious lattes of loveliness: this one will satisfy all of your pumpkin needs as the weather gets colder. Actually, back in the day I hated pumpkin. No pumpkin pie. Nothing pumpkin flavored at all. I still remember going past Culver’s when I was little and seeing a sign that read “pumpkin custard is back!”  To me it sounded more like a threat than something to get excited about.

Oh, how the times have changed. I’ve been fully indoctrinated into the cult of pumpkin. Give me all the pumpkin things!  Although, it still would be a hard call if I had a pumpkin pie and an apple pie in front of me and had to decide which one to make.

Making this latte gets me thinking about other seasonal coffee drinks. I personally LOVE mint mochas, and one might eventually have to make an appearance here. And what about that gingerbread latte at Starbucks over Christmas?  I might have to try my hand at that.

Speaking of pumpkin lattes, here are a couple of my little lattes.  I just realized that it had been a while since I had put pictures of the boys and Pie up on here.  What’s that about?  What kind of crazy cat lady am I?  If I’m going to embrace the title I better start showing off these little fur babies, right?  Who doesn’t love a good cat pic?  This is the interwebs after all, home base of kitteh.

Stay cool fellow food lovers. Cheers!

I was looking for a pumpkin latte recipe just last night! I ended up just putting cinnamon and cloves in my coffee. This looks so good!

I hope you like it! And you might be on to something putting spices in your coffee. I used to go to a coffee shop where the whole bean pecan supreme had pieces of pecan in it, so you’d grind it all up together. Yum!

Whoa. Where do you live?! Is there a hospital nearby? I always worry about that. I’m a bit neurotic that way. 🙂
This looks really fantastic! And much cheaper than buying one at Starbucks!

I’m neurotic like that too! There is a hospital nearby, which comes in handy when I burn myself making my own latte. Haha. 😀.

Homemade is always better anyway! I’m not close to Starbucks either, but who cares when we can make our own?!

I’m wih you! I make a lot of weird things. You have to do that when you live in a rural place. Sometimes I think I could live off the grid, but I’m in love with indoor plumbing so never mind! Haha. Thanks!
